There are several different brands of muscle treatment and dermal fillers. At Thames Skin Clinic we will only use the best pharmaceutical approved injectable products, with supporting research and safety profile. We do not use cheap, unlicensed, unregulated products.
We currently offer products made by highly professional pharmaceutical companies. Dr Hemming has used, many different dermal fillers in the past and chooses specific fillers for different indications. She has a preference to use Teoxane brands. The results are tried and tested and the treatments are very safe.
Before treatment we assess your deep facial volume to ensure this is the right treatment for you.
We discuss your medical history at your new patient consultation and would ask you to postpone treatment if you were pregnant or breastfeeding. Treatment may not suitable if you are having immune therapy or undergoing cancer treatment.
All our dermal fillers treatments are performed by Dr Hemming who is extremely experienced in aesthetic injectable techniques and has a very good eye for natural treatment.
You should expect very minor discomfort or tenderness initially, this settles very quickly. We use local anaesthetic injections to help numb some treatment areas and cool compress to calm any potential swelling.
Side effects are minimal and can include injection site tenderness and mild bruising.
There is no need for down time following Temple lift and Thames brow lift treatment.
Wrinkle injections – Treatment is injected through a fine sterile needle into the facial muscle of expression.
Treatment can cause mild discomfort over a few seconds.
Effects can be seen within 3 days and the complete effect in 2 weeks.
Treatment lasts for 3-6 months. Often increases with duration with progressive treatments.
Fillers – made from a clear non animal based hyaluronic acid gel are injected under the skin to bind water and encourage collaged regrowth. These have low allergy rates and means your treatment can go ahead without a patch test on your first visit.
The filler is injected through a fine sterile needle or cannula into the area where volume loss has occurred.
Treatment can cause mild discomfort over a few seconds. I prefer fillers to contain a local anaesthetic as it ensures a more comfortable procedure.
Effects can be seen immediately and the complete effect in 2 weeks.
Treatment lasts for 6-18 months.

Treatment is a safe and effective way of lifting the brow using your muscle activity, replacing volume loss or a combination of both.
Side effects are minimal if any. Injection site tenderness and mild bruising may occur. Ptosis or drooping of the eye lid is very rare, much less so with the experienced injector.
It should not to be used if pregnant or breast feeding as we have no research to prove it is safe for your foetus or child.
Care must be taken if diagnosed with neurological or bleeding disorders, currently suffering with a skin infection or allergy or taking particular medication. Your specialist will be able to advise you further.
Please discuss any current medication with the doctor, especially if you are taking aspirin on Ibuprofen. Medication may need to be stopped before treatment.
