PRP Therapy and Dracula Facelift

Posted 20/05/2016 | Treatments

We are very excited to announce that we will be offering PRP Therapy and Dracula facelift treatments in clinic

PRP Therapy (or Dracula facelift) harness the body’s own healing powers to stimulate rejuvenation from within. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is injected into your skin to smooth lines and wrinkles, to make your skin plumper, more youthful and radiant. The PRP stimulates collagen production turning back the age clock. Any area of your body can be treated with a focus on the face, neck, décolletage and the back of the hands which often show the signs of aging before other areas. PRP can also be used to stimulate hair growth and has been used for many years in sports injuries.

PRP treatment is also called the ‘Vampire Facelift’, ‘Vampire Therapy’, ‘Dracula Therapy’ and the ‘Dracula Facelift’ because it uses your own blood. Although the name suggests it is scary it is known in the aesthetic profession as one of the safest, most natural and versatile treatments available. PRP harness your won body’s amazing ability to repair and will slow or even reverse the visible signs of aging.

Which facial areas can be treated with PRP Therapy?

Delicate skin under and around your eyes including the eye lid

How long does PRP Therapy treatment take?

45 – 60 minutes depending on areas treated.

How many treatments and how often is the therapy needed?

Responses to treatment vary. Most will want to return for more treatments due to the excellent results achieved. Most people will need 1-3 sessions. These can be spaced 4-6 weeks apart, however many patients are happy after one treatment and return about 9 month later. There is no limit to the number of treatments you can have depending on your skin concerns and end goal.

What results can I expect from PRP Therapy?

PRP treatment will improve skin texture and tone over a 3 week period. Full collagen regeneration takes about 3 months.

Can any skin type or colour have PRP Therapy?

Yes, PRP treatment can be used on all skin types and colours.

Are PRP Therapy results immediate?

No. Swelling from the fluid is expected initially. Over the days and weeks the platelets will release the growth factors and pre stem cells which assist in more collagen growth.

How long do PRP Therapy results last?

Treatment results vary, however in most patients the results last 6-18 months. Touch up treatments will maintain the results.

Tell me more about PRP Therapy.

At the beginning of your appointment a small quantity of blood will be taken (like a normal blood test). The platelet rich plasma is extracted using a centrifuge. This portion of your blood contains all of the growth factors, cytokines and other important proteins involved in the stimulation of stem cells. These components stimulate cell growth and repair and once activated are immediately injected directly into the treatment area using a very fine needle. Treatment is not uncomfortable and recovery time is minimal so you can resume normal activities quickly. There are very few side effects as PRP is your body’s own product. There will be some swelling, tightness and bruising immediately after treatment, these last a few days and disappear. Results continue to improve over time as collagen production is stimulated. Results last longer than chemical treatment options.

PRP therapy can be mixed with other treatments, for example combined with Dermal fillers for a cheek enhancement or alongside botox and skin boosters in other areas.

PRP therapy has a use in many medical fields including the treatment of non healing wounds, skin grafts, nerve reconstitution, as well as face and neck lifting, face peeling and anti aging treatments. It has been approved in the treatment of sports injuries in major international competition including the Olympics and Tennis LTA world tour. Used by sports stars such as Rafa Nadal and international rugby players to speed their recovery after tendon, ligament and joint injuries.
