Weight management consultations are conducted in our CQC registered clinic in Twickenham.
Injectable medication has been licenced by the FDA since 2014 and in the UK. Since 2017. As with many medications, the medication we use is a unique weight management effect was discovered when the medication was used for a totally different condition. It was discovered that patients taking this injectable were able to control their appetite and did not crave foods in the same way as their peers.
Treatment is
The Thames weight management is a bespoke treatment designed specifically for you following consultation. We discuss your medical history at your new patient consultation goals from treatment. Following your initial appointment you will need some blood tests before commencing your program.
We would ask you to postpone treatment if you were pregnant or breastfeeding. Treatment may not suitable if you have some other health problems.
Treatment is very safe while following the Thames Weight management guidelines. We always have help at hand should you need extra support.
You should not expect any pain from treatment other than very minimal discomfort.
Side effects from treatments may occur in the initial weeks, however this is normally short lived.
There is no down time when part of the Thames Weight Management course. In fact we encourage up and out time as all plans come with a daily exercise commitment.
First your medical history will be taken followed by an examination relevant to weight management. Full body profile analysis and blood tests are reviewed before starting on step 1 of the weight management plan. You will have regular reviews booked in by phone and body analysis assessment in clinic.
Your comfort levels and expectations are important factors which are considered in your consultation.
Dr Hemming will be able to discuss the options most suitable for your weight management concerns following examination.
Side effects are minimal.
There are some contraindications to treatment which will be discussed in your consultation.
Injection site tenderness and mild bruising may occur.
In the initial period weight management injections can cause nausea.
It should not to be used if pregnant or breast feeding as we have no research to prove it is safe for your foetus or child.
Care must be taken if diagnosed with neurological or bleeding disorders, currently suffering with a skin infection or allergy or taking particular medication. Your specialist will be able to advise you further.
Please discuss any current medication with the doctor, especially if you are taking aspirin on Ibuprofen. Medication may need to be stopped before treatment.
Injectable treatments for weight loss should be prescribed and managed by a medically trained professional, preferably a registered doctor.
