Dermapen Micro-needling

Micro-needling is an advanced anti-aging facial treatment consisting of tiny needles that puncture the skin to trigger the skins natural healing response, release of rejuvenating growth factors and rebuilds collagen. At Thames Skin Clinic we offer Dermapen face and body microneedling treatments.

The Dermapen DMP8 is a fractional micro-needling device which uses 12 tiny pins to create micro channels (tiny holes) in the skin. We are able to control needle depth from 0.25 mm to 3.0 mm to suit various different skin conditions.

The treatment works by stimulating your body’s natural healing response. This, can also be referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) or medical skin needling.

The Dermapen is fantastic for improving fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck and décolletage.

It’s commonly used to reduce the appearance of surgical, acne or traumatic scars found anywhere on the body (including the face).

Dermapen can also be used to treat other scarring such as stretch marks and in some cases it is also used to address pigmentation problems.

It is suitable for all skin types.

DermaPen has a very smooth motion and operates with continuous motion at variable speeds, which we control depending on the indication being treated.

The action of the 12 micorneedles on the skin creates thousands of tiny microchannels through which we can apply growth factor serums. Microneedling channels close very quickly, a repair process that starts the skin rejuvenation process. The trauma caused by the insertion of the needles, stimulates skin cells such as keratinocytes, fibroblasts and growth factors. These encourage the production of new collagen and renew and repair the skin layers.

The procedure

Following a consultation with one of our wonderful Thames Skin Therapists or your initial new patient consultation with Dr Hemming we will discuss your treatment goals and plan for your treatment. Thames Skin Clinic will check your medical history is suitable for treatment and you will sign a consent form. We record all of our patients photographs for comparison later.

Following cleansing your skin, local anaesthetic is applied for 30 minutes.

The therapist will then use a unique technique with the DermaPen to create the channels in the skin.

During you microneedling treatment we use award winning growth factor Calecim professional treatment (or a bespoke targeted serum) to accelerate your treatment results and healing.

After your microneeding treatment we apply a soothing cooling mask and we can add LED phototherapy to further assist rejuvenation and reduce redness as well as assist in some of the treatment concerns such as anti ageing and acne.

Treatment is a safe and effective way of tightening and hydrating your skin, improving skin texture and treating scarring as well as fine lines and wrinkles.

Your comfort levels and expectations are important factors which are considered in your consultation.

We often get asked about the cost of treatment. At Thames Skin Clinic we pride ourselves on results rather than focus on the price of a treatment, it is more important that we get the correct quality of product rather than offer cut price treatments, products and services (especially when it comes to medical treatments). You will never see Thames Skin Clinic advertising services on social coupon sites such as Groupon as we believe they have a negative impact on our customer safety, results and satisfaction.
